Magdalena Gross
Chief of Educational Development & Implementation
Magdalena Gross is a program director for Teach For America in NYC
where supports 44 teachers in Social Studies, English Language Arts,
and English as a Second Language. Previously she taught 8th grade Reading,
Language Arts, and Social Studies and community mural painting in a
public school on Chicago’s South Side. Magda graduated with honors from
the University of Chicago in 2004 and finished her Master’s Degree in
Teaching from Dominican University where the topic of her thesis was
the effectiveness of Test Tracks on student achievement. During this
time she also established an after-school mural arts program at American
Quality Schools, linking youth from Oakland, California, Chicago, and
the South Bronx. She also created public arts projects and community
hip-hop arts programs for international groups such as Poland’s Pogranicze
organization (Borderlands Project), the Lakota community in Pine Ridge,
South Dakota, and for Chicago groups such as the Southwest Youth Collaborative,
the Chicago Park District, the University of Chicago, the Chicago Public
Schools, and numerous other organizations.
